Well, it all comes down to one more night in Anchorage, Alaska. The journey that I started almost five years ago is coming to a close and a new adventure awaits me. Tomorrow morning I get into my car, rev up the engine, say a little prayer, and drive away. The life I have lived for the past several years is over.....the battles I have fought and the training I have endured is in the not too distant past. The uniform is hung up and boots are stowed away. All I have before me is the open road and large swath of America.
Some of you may wonder why I am driving home. In fact nothing was stopping me from picking up an airplane ticket and flying back to the east coast. Yes, I would have had to endure a 10 hour plane ride with seats that have no leg room for my 6 4' frame, but I would have been back to Florida by dinner. The road trip is my therapy. It's my opportunity to rediscover and explore this land I love so much. I spent 2 years of my life on foreign soil protecting the United States of America. Many friends lost their lives or were seriously injured in the name of freedom. I made it out OK but a strong desire burns within me to really delve into the American consciousness. That's what this trip is all about.......enjoying life, meeting people, having fun, and getting reacquainted with this land of the free and the home of the brave.
SO tomorrow the journey begins. I want to thank the most awesome family in Anchorage, the Ryans', for letting us stay with the them in their beautiful home. Also, want to give a shout out to my fellow blogger and twin sister, Alexandra......how in the world are we going to get through these next six weeks together? The Lord only knows. You are the best! See you later Anchorage....I will miss you and all the wonderful friends that were made!! Alright, wake up 640 in the morning, got to be at the car 10 minutes prior..oh wait I am not in the Army any more...I can leave whenever I want. hahahahahaha Alright, going to bed.
