The Alaskan Canadian Highway is the road we have been driving for the past several days. It's actually an amazing highway built in only 8 months by US Army Engineers after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. It was completed in October 1942 and was critical in defending Alaska from the Japanese threat that loomed over the Pacific. Thanks to the courage and determination of my past Army brethren, we have the opportunity to travel on this highway and enjoy this scenic country. Today we saw herds of buffalo grazing on the side of the road which elicited some very exciting squeals from Alexandra. We also observed sheep and caribou hanging out. The sheep actually got very close to the vehicle and eyed Alexandra very inquisitively. At that point I told the sissy to keep driving because I didn't really want my car being rammed by sheep.......and this particular sheep had horns. We also think we saw a bald eagle but could be lying to you all....it kind of looked like one but who knows.
I have to give a shout out to Amie Leon for providing a large array of CDs that we have been listening to on the trip. Unfortunately, I also have to blame her for the pain I have had to endure listening to Alexandra sing along with the songs. Amie, why did you have to put me through this torture? Well........I guess I have to admit that I have been caught singing along to Whitney Houston and Miley Cyrus' "Its A Party in the USA" from time to time, so I guess have no reason to complain. It's all good.....you have my permission to keep singing Alexandra. Tonight we stopped in Fort St. John, Canada. It actually looks like an little American city....they have a McDonalds, Wendys, and Dominos. What more can you ask for but super-sized American cuisine with obnoxious billboards on the side of the road. Awesome!!! Alrighty, well I hope you all have a wonderful start to the week. I am looking forward to a full week ahead of us with nothing to do and no responsibilities but traveling.
