Our day started off quite lovely with an early morning workout and a complimentary continental breakfast at our Fort St. John motel. This serenity, however, was certainly no indication of the ensuing day. What began as a clear day turned into a drive of rapid changing weather patterns up in the BC mountain ranges. I endured snow, rain, hail, and sleet. It was absolutely terrifying. One sudden skid and we would careen to our certain death. I told myself I was not going to be defeated by mother nature!! There was no place to go or stop, we had to surge ahead. I eventually let Azar take over the wheel after his adamant insistence that he could drive faster due to his winter weather experience. I assured him that he would drive no faster than me because it was impossible to do so in these treacherous conditions. What happens...that machismo drives no faster then me. "Alexandra..you were right...I am driving no faster."
I am praying this is the last of the poor weather. I have never been so scared while driving.
But aside from that..driving through Alaska and Canada has been sooo much fun. It's 100x more fun than Need For Speed II. haha
I would like to close this post by mentioning how charmed I am by the Canadian people. From the two fellows we met at the Hot Springs from Calgary in the oil business, to the Husky Station manager in Fort Nelson, to the Canada National Railway engineer I approached while stopping for gas. I am proud to have such warm and kind neighbors to the north.
