First off, I apologize for not writing yesterday; the past two days have been extremely eventful. I know many of you eagerly turned on your computers this morning to check out the blog and were disappointed to find no entry. Well, I hope after reading this update, you can forgive the Boehm twins. Yesterday, we spent our last morning in downtown Portland exploring such areas as Chinatown, Old Town, and the Pearl District. In short these areas are filled with an eclectic mix of young hipster boutiques, interesting shops, and renovated industrial buildings that bring a totally unique vibe to the city. You can't help but feel that you have to rush to a vintage clothing store to put on some tweeds and grow your beard out to fit in. We did stop at the Skinnidip Yogurt place on Burnside Ave. At first we thought we had to strip down into our underwear before we could get our soft serve, but that ended up not being the case. I guess it was for the best because I don't think Portland could have handled my amazing physique.
Anyway, we went back to the hotel and got ready for the best part of the day....a wedding! After changing, we traveled to the Willimette Valley Wine Vineyards where our really good friend Joana Harboe got married. I never really knew that Oregon was well known for their wines but Bill Clinton had visited this award winning winery. A bottle of their wine was also on a "Friends" episode. It was a fabulous wedding and a wonderful time was had by all. We danced the night away and it was great to meet the rest of the Harboe family. We love you guys!!!! Congrats to Joana and her new husband Jake; we wish you both the very best!! Alexandra and I decided to keep driving after the wedding and ended up stopping at Medford Oregon at about 300 in the morning.
Today we traveled onward to California and experience awe inspiring beauty along the way. We had the opportunity to drive through the Redwood National Forest which absolutely defied imagination. These towering trees are truly a testament to God's creation. The highway winded through miles of forest providing magnificent and close-up views of these trees. Once we hit the Pacific, another magnificent vista hung before us. Huge rock formations jutted out from the shore and crashing waves angrily attacked the rocks. I felt in total awe and truly blessed as drove down the highway. Here before my very eyes was this great American land just asking for my exploration. Tonight we stopped at the beautiful coastal town of Mendocino where we are staying at a very quant Victorian hotel on the beach. Tomorrow, the Napa Valley and its fantastic wines await us!
