Happy Easter from Seattle

We woke up this Easter Sunday to Seattle sunshine which is quite unusual and we were very excited about it. Granted the sunshine only lasted a few hours I am hoping I got my daily dose of Vitamin D. We drove down to St. James Cathedral for morning mass and of course we were already running late, but ended up running later because we had trouble finding parking downtown. Due to our tardiness we had to stand at the very back of the church which was really at the front lobby entrance of the church surrounded by the other late stragglers. The church looked quite magnificent inside. What a pity we could not sit surrounded by its' beauty. Besides that minor detail we did not mind at all....EXCEPT (and Azar did not notice this..lucky for him) but there was this couple two human layers in front of us who were practically making out the entire service. It was so inappropriate and I was contemplating whether I would make the move, walk up, and yank that woman's hair out. It really baffled me how people choose to behave at church and of all days Easter!

After mass we walked completely to the other side of downtown, to Pike's Market, to grab brunch at one of the cafes and then purchase fresh produce at one of the stands. Fruit in hand we made our trek back up the very steep hill. I was quite impressed with myself. Up and down that enormous hill in 3 inch heel boots. Whoever created the high heel was truly a masochist or a man.

After our downtown expedition we decided to head out of town for a bit and explore what Washington has to offer. Our original intentions were to go to either Olympic National Park or Mt. Rainer for the day, but unfortunately they were slammed with four feet of snow the day before making those conditions not optimal for us. Instead we headed east to Snoqualmie Falls. Once we drove up to the falls lookout deck we hiked 1/2 mile down to the river where we could be closer to the falls. It was beautiful and fun and the hike back up that hill was a killer, but of course worth it to be that close to nature.

On our way back to Seattle we passed a sign on the Interstate labeled: Boehm's Candies. We were ecstatic and curious and knew there was no other option than to follow that sign to Boehm's Candies. The directions led us through this wonderful quaint Washington town with a name like Issaqual...something Native American and something I am sure I was not pronouncing correctly. We finally made it to this Bavarian looking property where to our utter disappointment the shop closed two hours before. Nevertheless it was definitely a neat thing to come by. =)

Tomorrow we depart this very quirky city for Portland, the supposed city with all the bearded men. We shall see.
